Elderflower Champagne & The Good Time Girl

Of course all Good Time Girls like a glass of fizz don't they?
Gladys and the Good Time Girl are no exception but in these credit crunch times champagne can be a bit of a luxury.
So we going to have a go at making our own - Elderflower Champagne.
We've got the recipe from our friends over at http://www.renaissanceshop.co.uk/ (where we got those fabby recycled envelopes from a few posts ago) and it's ever so easy to make.

Packaging

This is how we packaged our most recent jewellery sale

in an envelope made from a page of a 1970s childrens' annual, tied with wool.

We got the envelope from our friends over at Renaissance who have two blogs

And I was even more delighted when I popped over to Angie's blog and saw the fabulous post she has written on our shop Gladys Gladrags Wardrobe

Angie has her own Etsy shop with some delightful scarflettes (amongst other things) for sale, I especially like this one, now if I had a little girl it would be in my shopping cart in a trice. There's stuff for adults too so why not take a look?

Photographic Angst

We all know that photographs sell, after all what else have customers got to go on?

Unfortunately these photographs just aren't very good, they don't do justice to the clothing.

The lighting is awful, as is the background.

It's been casung me a lot of angst.

But the other day I listed the above skirt anyway and guess what?

It's sold within a couple of days or so.

The moral?

Well obviously we need to get the best photographs possible but maybe it's better to get stock in the shop, even with a less than perfect photograph, than to sit around wondering how to improve the photographs and not offer the items for sale.

Yves St Laurent at Gladys Gladrags Wardrobe

In 1966 Paris coutourier Yves St Laurent launched his ready-to-wear line Rive Gauche , meaning “left bank”, left of the Seine , the place of abode for young bohemians and artists at the time.
In 1971 he launched a perfume of the same name. The packaging of Rive Gauche quickly became iconic and the electric blue colour was used in the advertising campaign for the perfume.

Gladys Gladrags has found a beautiful, authentic 1970's Yves St Laurent wool jacket in the iconic shade of electric blue with black trim.

Sadly it doesn't fit me so it's in the shop and it's wonderful.

Firsts

Last week was a week of "firsts".

First sale from our Etsy shop Gladys Gladrags Wardrobe , first tag from Creative Coquette

and first vintage Yves St Laurent find.

I'll show you the Yves St Laurent find as soon as I can get some good photographs, the light has been awful for the past few days.

1. I once considered training to be a fashion buyer, how I wish I had.

2. Instead I went into advertising.

3. I live outside the beautiful and historic university town of Cambridge in England.

4. I'm a bag lady, I adore handbags.

5. And shoes.
